Who knew?

Well I'm back.
Hopefully this time I'll be better with this blog, and update it frequently.

A new year of school has started.

I'm now taking Independant Digital Imaging back at Seneca College. It's a brand new program, and we're the guinea pigs testing it out. There have been some bumps along the way, but things seem to be smoothing out.

So far there have been 4 weeks of assignments, and I plan to update each week with a new assignment each time, and hopefully some other shots I take on my own.

But as for now I'm just going to get you caught up on what has been going on up until now. Week by week.

The first assignment we had was to photograph a building that we chose out of a hat. I ended up getting a very uninteresting building. The goal was to make it look as interesting as you could. Which was hard for me. I chose a building that looked like a run down old highschool. I hated most of the pictures I took, but I did end up liking these two:

Along with each new assignment we get each week, we also have an on going assignment called the ER assignment. Basically we have to take a picture that brings awareness to the environment, and how to save it. So I'll be adding these in as we go. Here's the first one:

Next week we had a depth of field project.

And the ER:

Next we had a movement/shutter speed project:

And this week we had a composition assignment:

So thats basically it for now.
Next time when I have more time I'll go into it all more.

Art School

Well it's been about 2 and a half months now, and I think I can honestly say that I see an improvement in my art.
I'm incredibly happy, and cannot wait to see the outcome at the end of next semester.
Time for some pictures.
Here are some drawings from my life drawing class.

There are loads more, but those are my favourite so far.

I'll probably update this more often with my art. But thats all for now.

Camping

So last weekend I went camping for the first time ever.
What an experience.

Justin and I headed up to Huntsville, Friday morning. After a 2 and a half hour drive we finally made it. We got confused as to which way we should have been going, but once we stopped to ask someone at a local Country Style, we were on the right track.

A picture of downtown Huntsville. Reminds me of driving through Collingwood on the way to the farm.

So we get there, and check in. Find our site, and set up camp.
We got the most popular spot apparently. With an amazing view of the river, and even our own little walk way down to the beach. It was beautiful.

The store/main building. The people that owned the place were so country. We loved them. They had the most amazing dog that felt like a sheep, so in turn I called her Lamb Chop.

Our spot. Number 56. Looks huge compared to the size of our tent. Definately more than we needed, but it was perfect.

I took this on the way back from the bathroom. I snuck onto another spot and it had an amazing view of the river bend, and you could see fish in the water.

And me of course.

The second day up, we ended up jumping into the river, and just feeling the water, we definately wanted to go swimming. Concidering that the water in the river only came up to under our waists we decided to go to a beach.
After asking the man in the shop if he knew of any good beaches, we decided to go to the one he said was his favourite. It was called Hutcheson Beach.
When we got there, we knew why this was his favourite.
It was incredibly gorgeous.
It was perfect, we went out so far, and could still touch the bottom. Everything about it was amazing.

View of the right of the beach. I loved how the grass came right up out of the water.

We went fishing in Trout Creek that afternoon. Justin showed me the ruins of the house where his father grew up. What a great place.
We decided to take a break from all the meat we were eating on the trip and went out for dinner instead that night. We ended up at a place called The Cottage. How could it be any more perfect?
We decided on pasta for both of us.
We went back to the camp and fell asleep for the last time in the tent.
The next morning we were packed and off by 12.

It was definately a weekend I'll never forget.
And Im sure that I want to try camping again sometime.

Summer is in the Air

What gorgeous whether we've been having recently.
Makes me almost regret having undergone surgery, and forced to stay inside, immobile.
Thankfully though, I've been able to experience it recently, even though I get tired easily.
Here are some pictures I took of the Magnolia tree at the house next to me.

And some mini daphodiles from our very own garden.

In other news, my big brother Sean finally popped the question to his girlfriend Kari.
Believe it or not, they're tying the knot. And to be honest with you, he couldn't have picked a better girl.
He bought her a beautiful engagement ring, and even took it back from her to come show us.
I'm proud of him, and can't wait for the wedding.
I hope it's soon. They've gotta get working on a little baby neice or nephew for me to play with.
Anyways that's all for now I think.
Until next time.
Enjoy the whether.

New Stage

Hello once again.
Well since my last post, March has come and gone.
As much as I want time to move forward as fast as possible, I want it to slow down a tad as well. There are things that I feel I am ready for, and others that I feel I need some more time with.

Last week, Thursday night to be exact, I recieved my acceptance to Seneca College. Let me tell you, I was one happy girl that night. I had been waiting for that one piece of mail for a month, and to finally recieve it, and get the answer I wanted just put an instant smile on my face.
As much as I want school to be over, and the next year to start, Im scared. Going to a new school is always a huge deal. Plus the fact that Im a year behind in going to College makes a difference, and also I dont know anyone who goes there, or plans to go there. I'll be all alone, in that awkward phase of trying-to-make-new-friends.
But that will pass, just like it always does. I should just focus on right now, right now.
Finally finnishing school. I cannot wait for summer.
This summer is one of my most antisipated ones yet, and I dont want to waste it. There are so many things I want to do. This transition from schools makes me feel like a new person. I get a fresh start. A do-over, and I want to take full advantage of it.
There are things I feel that I need, to make me complete as a person. And I hope to accomplish most of them this summer.

Im excited for summer because it brings with it:
-our first family vacation in 13 years
-a lot of time spent with the people I care most about
-the cottage and family
-spending a week with friends at a cottage
-and many more things I hope to accomplish.

Next Tuesday, I will be having an operation. My first one to be exact.
A Tonsillectomy. It's finally happening. After having strep throat at least once a year, and this past year constantly for 3 months, its happening. I cant be more pleased.
Im not going to lie though, Im ridiculously scared. But Im allowed to be. So I dont feel bad about it.
Hopefully everything will go fine, and recovery will be ok. Im not excited for the horrible pain in my throat, and not being able to eat though. But what ever it takes.

Other than that, nothing else is new in my life.
And so Im off to bed.
G'night, sweet dreams.
